Both the 2400 and 6400 series kits come with an illuminator; 25 ft. power cord; key kit; pre-cut, pre-assembled fiber optic cable harness (4-*, 8-, 12- or 16-lights); corresponding number of stealth stands; and installation and maintenance manuals. The 2400 series kits come with a quartz halogen illuminator, and the 6400 series kits come with a metal halide illuminator. Both kinds of illuminators come with a four-position color wheel. (*4-light kits are only available in the 2400 series kits.) 2. How does the IlluminFx fiber optic lighting system work? A light source (1) inside an enclosure (called the illuminator) sits outside the pond and plugs into regular 120v GFCI protected power. The light source projects light into one end of a bundle of fiber optic cables (2). Light travels through the fiber optic cables (3) and out the other end (4). 3. What Colors are on the color wheel? White, Green, Magenta, Blue. 4. How do the colors change? The color wheel, positioned between the light source and the input end of the fiber optic cable harness, gradually rotates. 5. Can you leave it on a single color? Yes. You may turn on the color wheel and let it slowly rotate through the various colors, or stop it at any point on whatever color (white, blue, etc.) you choose. 6. Can I get Custom Colors? Yes. It is possible to specify other colors than the standard color wheel, for an additional charge, and a lead-time of approximately 4-6 weeks. If your customer is interested in a special color wheel, contact IlluminFx and ask for the color filter chart. 7. How many cables do I get with the IlluminFx systems and how long are they? It varies with the type of kit. See the chart below for cable quantities and standard lengths. Think of each cable as a separate light fixture. 8. What if I need longer cables than come with the kit? Custom cable lengths are available. You can specify the length of each cable, up to a maximum of 50 ft per cable and no less than 10 ft. Please, keep lengths to (at least) two-foot increments. You could conceivably have a kit with (16) 50 ft cables. 9. What is the longest cable I can get? The longest cable you can get is 50ft. Beyond 50 feet, the light emitted from the end of the cable will diminish. The shortest you can go is 10ft. 10. Can custom lengths go beyond 50 feet? Yes, but the return policy is no longer valid for the cable harness. If lengths are ordered longer than 50 feet, the harness cannot be returned if it isn't right. Make sure the measurements are correct. 11. Can a 4-light kit be customized? Yes, but there is a $50 customization charge for the 4-light kits, only. 12. What is the lead-time on a custom built kit? Generally, custom kits have a lead-time of 2-3 business days. 13. Is it possible to get fixtures in quantities other than 4, 8, 12 or 16? a. Unfortunately, the harness dictates that fixture numbers go in increments of four. We cannot build harnesses with a number of cables in between those quantities due to the tip that brings the individual fibers together. 14. How bright is the light? Each light in the 250w kits is about as bright as an 18w halogen lamp, with a 60-degree wide beam spread. Each light in the 150w Metal Halide unit is about as bright as a 22w halogen lamp, with a 60-degree wide beam spread. 15. Is there any electricity going to the water? No. The electricity only goes as far as the illuminator, which houses the bulb. The only thing going into the water is the fiber optic cable, and it transmits only light. 16. Does the light coming from the cable end change the water temperature? No. There is no heat generated by the fiber optic cables, so, the water temperature stays constant. This is also a benefit if you have fish in your pond. 17. Can I leave the system outside all year? Yes. You can leave the lights in or out of the water throughout the year, even in the winter. 18. What kind of warranty do the IlluminFx units carry? IlluminFx kits come with a one year limited warranty, excluding the lamp on the 2400 series kits. The 6400 series warranty is also a year and includes the lamp. 19. How long will IlluminFx systems last? Aside from the light bulb (1 per kit), the system should last indefinitely, barring any external destructive forces. 20. My customers think it is too expensive. Fiber optic lighting technology is expensive to manufacture, but, there are numerous benefits to making the investment: only one light bulb to change and it is out of the water; no heat, electricity or UV generated in the water; light fixtures of 3/8's of an inch;changing colors, among others. The money is well spent.
